HDR Engineering, Inc. of the Carolinas, North Charleston, SC, won the Palmetto Award, for the “US17 Adaptive Traffic Control System Install’ in the Transportation category. HDR also won a Engineering Excellence award and is also a 2012 ACEC Finalist. HDR provided the expertise, planning, and design services to prepare the construction plans and specifications for the implementation of an Adaptive Traffic Control System at seven intersections along the US 17 Corridor and on Hungryneck Boulevard in Mount Pleasant, SC. The installation of an Adaptive System was the first of its kind in South Carolina and this project was chosen to be a Pilot Study for SCDOT.
